I was recently asked for my advice — document and information management advice, not driving or legal advice — about a traffic court situation. Per Joe Friday, what follows are the facts, followed by my advice. I would like to tap into the power of my network to determine whether the advice I gave was crazy or not.
Ahhhh….If only life were simpler. One of the things that I struggle with is how to explain what our industry does simply and succinctly (but alas also somewhat accurately). Messaging in the enterprise IT business is not as easy as it is for the gentleman in the attached photo. He in the cut-rate beer business selling beer across the street from Camden Yards to people who have been drinking massively overpriced beer for 3 hours at a baseball game and who come across the value proposition “2 beers for $5″ after the game and think they have died and gone to heaven. Based on those results and the work with noted futurist and author Geoffrey Moore, AIIM has identified early adopters and thought-leaders willing to share their experience at a virtual CONFERENCE on September 8th, 2011 (http://www.aiim.org/Events/SOE-Conference). Attendees will get ideas for how to use social technologies to engage customers and empower staff from early adopters, and get a roadmap for implementing social technologies with the appropriate governance structure. What the event WON’T be is one of those goofy virtual TRADE SHOWS. Speakers include… Andrew McAfee, Founder of the term Enterprise 2.0 and Principal Research Scientist at the Center for Digital Business in the MIT Sloan School of Management Dr. David Weinberger, co-author of the bestseller The Cluetrain Manifesto Debra Logan, VP Gartner Research John Mancini, AIIM President Vinicius da Costa, Associate Director, Collaboration and Social Media Solutions, Kraft Foods Bert Sandie, Director – Technical Excellence, Electronic Arts Steve Ressler – GovLoop, President & Founder Claire Flanagan – CSC, Director, Social Collaboration Strategy John Stepper – Deutsche Bank, Managing Director Jacob Morgan – Chess Media Group Ajay…
